Quick answer: Rushpool Hall is an exclusive-use Victorian manor on Saltburn Lane, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, set in woodland on the edge of the North York Moors. It has two indoor ceremony rooms (the Ballroom for up to 110 guests and the Peacock Room for up to 60) and an outdoor option, takes 180 evening guests and has 19 bedrooms. I've photographed weddings at Rushpool Hall.
Rushpool Hall is one of the most recognisable buildings on this stretch of coast, a 19th-century Victorian manor with turrets, gables and dark stone. This guide is the practical version: the rooms, the light, where I take couples for portraits and how a typical day runs.
Why couples choose Rushpool Hall
Rushpool Hall is exclusive use. According to the venue, you have it to yourselves from an hour before your ceremony, with no other weddings or events on the day. Ceremony, drinks, meal and party all happen in one building, with rooms upstairs for your guests, so nobody needs a taxi between parts of the day.
It also sits close to Saltburn-by-the-Sea, so couples get the beach, the pier and the Victorian cliff lift within a few minutes' drive, and the North York Moors are just behind.
The ceremony rooms at Rushpool Hall
The Ballroom
The Ballroom has high ceilings, wood panelling, a chandelier and tall windows down one side, and holds up to 110 guests for a ceremony. It's the room most couples use, and it's later turned around for the wedding breakfast and the evening party. For photos, the light from those windows is soft and even, so I can photograph the ceremony without flash.
The Peacock Room
The Peacock Room holds up to 60 guests and is the warmer, cosier choice for a smaller ceremony. In a smaller room I stay at the side and keep still, so I'm not the thing guests notice.
Outdoor ceremonies
Rushpool Hall also has an outdoor ceremony setting. The venue says you can decide until two hours before the ceremony whether to stay outside or move in, which takes a lot of the weather worry away.
Getting ready at Rushpool Hall
The Getting Ready Room has hair and make-up stations and space to hang dresses and suits. The Honeymoon Suite is included in every wedding package, according to the venue, and its big windows and panelled walls make it one of the best rooms in the house for getting-ready photos.
Best photo spots at Rushpool Hall
The windows and doorways
Rushpool Hall's old windows and doorways give lovely directional light. A bride standing at a window just before the ceremony is one of the quietest, simplest photos of the day, and it needs nothing set up.
The front of the hall
The stone front, with its turrets and gables, is the classic Rushpool Hall photo and the natural place for a big group shot.
The woodland and grounds
Rushpool Hall is set in woodland, so there are paths and trees within a few minutes' walk of the door. They're an easy spot for a few couple portraits during the drinks reception.
Saltburn beach and pier
Some couples like a few photos on Saltburn beach or by the pier. It's a short drive, so it needs planning into the timeline, and it works best on a day with a long gap between the ceremony and the meal.

What if it rains at Rushpool Hall?
Rushpool Hall is one of the better venues around here for a wet day, because the whole day can happen under one roof. The Ballroom, the Peacock Room, the Conservatory and the circular bar connect, so guests can move around freely. For portraits we use the windows, doorways and the covered entrance, and I'll watch for a dry spell to pop outside.

Rushpool Hall wedding costs: planning notes
The venue asks for a £1,000 booking fee after your tour to secure the date, which comes off your total package. Room rates for guests are set for each wedding, and booked couples get a private booking link to share. Rushpool Hall is pet friendly as long as your dog has a dedicated sitter. The function rooms and grounds are accessible, but there's no lift to the bedrooms. Check current package prices directly with the venue.
