Karen and Graham’s Wedding – The Grand Hotel – Tynemouth – Northumberland

I first met Karen and Graham at their wedding venue, in what seems like a long time ago now, but time does fly in this industry. I remember planning my wedding and time seemed to stand still until a few weeks before, then all of a sudden you are standing at the bottom of the aisle with a dry mouth and shaking knees.

Karen and Graham tied the knot at The Grand Hotel in Tyne Mouth. A majestic hotel that takes your breath away with amazing panoramic views of the coat line below. The hotel has one most striking staircases I have ever seen – perfect for wedding photography. It spirals from the reception all the way to the top floor, with huge windows lining the walls. To the righthand side of the hotel on the sea front, there is a collection of small sandstone cliffs that have crumbled over time. I knew I wanted to head down there to try and get some of the amazing colours into Karen and Grahams wedding photos.

The day itself started for me at their family church in Whitley Bay, before heading down the road to The Grand Hotel. What I loved about this wedding were the little details that were scattered throughout the day, that most people wouldn’t notice but they were little reminders of loved ones who for what ever reason were not there on the day, or had a sentimental meaning to Karen and Graham. Daffodils lined the aisles of the church in memory of Graham’s mother, and were arranged by a friend from the church congregation; Karen wore a locket that belonged to Graham’s Grandmother; there was a brooch amongst Karen’s bouquet that belonged to her Grandmother, and a family friend made the cake for them. A huge amount of time went into planning Karen and Graham’s wedding and it was perfect. Thanks guys for allowing me to be a small part of it.
