Brandon and Joanne married at St Wilfrid’s, the York Oratory, in November 2023 before celebrating at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall on Fossgate, and being their York wedding photographer was a treat. The Oratory sits on Duncombe Place, just around the corner from York Minster. The Merchant Adventurers’ Hall is one of the city’s medieval guildhalls, with timber beams and centuries of character, so it doesn’t need much dressing up. Joanne’s hair was by Rachel Jackson, her make-up by Louise Lunn and her nails by Maisie Jackson Beauty, and Purple Chilli Events Catering looked after the food. A city wedding has its own rhythm, with old streets, short walks and plenty to look at. I like to keep portraits brief and natural, and spend the rest of the day quietly capturing people enjoying themselves. If you’re planning a wedding in York, whether at the Oratory, the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall or somewhere nearby, I’d love to hear about it. No pressure at all.
