Wylam Brewery | Jill and Noel

Newcastle wedding photographer

I first met Jill and Noel, along with their three children at their pre-wedding shoot. As we strolled along the winding footpath heading towards Whitburn Old Quarry I had a feeling we were going to get on great.

One of my favourite things about my job as a wedding photographer is every now and again you meet these families or couples who are just totally infectious. There are people out there who you could just talk to for hours. I can never put my finger on it, maybe it's their joy for life, the small things that make you smile every day, but because of the nature of my job, I get to meet these people and spend some quality time with them.

Bridal Prep

Fast forward a few months and we are in the middle of July and I'm walking into Hotel Du Vin, Newcastle. A few minutes later I'm in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Jill's wedding party getting ready. As a wedding photographer, I love this part of the wedding day as it's so personal and only a hand full of people actually get to witness it.

Ceremony

As a wedding photographer, I have photographed at Wylam Brewery before. Because of my past work, I love industrial buildings, I find them just as awe-inspiring as any ancient structure and Wylam Brewery doesn't disappoint. With its huge art deco-inspired pillars that hold up the front of the building, the jaw-dropping domed roof in the main room, or even the brushed stainless steel machinery out the back, it is a building filled with photographic potential.

The ceremony was beautiful with handwritten vows, but one thing that will always stick in my mind was Noel son dropping one of the wedding rings whilst there was absolute silence. Obviously, this isn't to make light of the matter and point the finger at a young boy, but I love awkward comedy! Those moments where everything and everyone stops. The moments where you can hear a pin drop. Well, this was one of those moments. The sound of metal and wood come together, pure silence and then the noise of the ring echoing and filling the magnificent domed roof. Then out of nowhere the noise of over 100 laughing adults was deafening. It's a moment that will take a while to fade and one that always makes me smile.

Portraits

After some brilliant food and fantastic speeches, I managed to grab Jill and Noel for some quick portrait photos. One of the reasons they decided to book me was because of my laid-back approach to weddings. They didn't want to spend hours in front of the camera, but to spend more time with their friends and family.

The Small Details

No wedding is complete without the small details and Jill and Noel pulled it off perfectly. A fine balance between decor and letting the venue showcase its self.

Lets dance

Once we wrapped the portraits up we headed back inside for more food, live music and a lot of dancing.

Thank you for taking time out to read about Jill and Noels blog. Its one of my favourite for many reasons.
