The Best North Yorkshire Wedding Venues
If you are planning your wedding, then below is my list of the best North Yorkshire wedding venues.
Obviously, this is very subjective, but as a wedding photographer, I have photographed most North Yorkshire wedding venues, and these are my favourites.
So what am I looking for when selecting the best North Yorkshire wedding venues. Well, I always look for the quality of service. I find that the little things throughout the day come together to make a wedding special. Fixing problems before they arise could be as simple as having tissues on the table whilst saying your vows. There is nothing worse than begging for a tissue whilst tears run down your face.
Then there’s the quality of food. Personally, I think if you are paying thousands for a wedding venue, you should be fed well, call me old fashioned.
Lastly, it is the layout and ambience of the venue. This is something that is often not even thought about, but the layout of a venue can have a huge impact on how your wedding day feels. When photographing a wedding, I have found keeping people close together, which forces them to interact and talk, often leads to a better day. This is obviously a personal choice, but something to think about nonetheless.
North Yorkshire Wedding Venues
Danby Castle is one of my favourite wedding venues and in fact, I got married there myself. Set in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors on the crest of a hill, Danby Castle has views overlooking the village of Danby and the Esk Valley all the way to the North Sea.
Danby Castle has improved even more since I tied the knot there several years ago. As a wedding photographer, it is a dream of a venue to visit. The staff are some of the best in the area, it has beautiful county side which is perfect for your photos, and the food is rustic and wholesome.
There are two options for your ceremony. Danby Castle has an old courtroom for couples looking for something steeped in history and indoors. Outside, a lawn lets you have an outdoor ceremony set in the stunning North Yorkshire countryside.
The rest of your day is spent in the converted Yorkshire barn, where you can catch up with guests or dance the night away. For your photos, there is the option to explore the ruins.

Whinstone View | Wray’s Barn
Whinstone view is located on the edge of North Yorkshire in the little town of Great Ayton. It has easy access to the A19 and is close enough to Middlesbrough if guests arrive by train.
A modern and contemporary barn still holds some rustic characteristics for couples who love that traditional feeling but want all the modern amenities. Another major draw for Whinstone view is the brilliant onsite accommodation and spa.
Surrounding the barn is a terraced area and a large lawn, which is brilliant for those summer lawn games.
What I love about Whinstone View the most, though, is the uniqueness of each wedding I have photographed. None have felt the same after working there during every season and even at Christmas.
A shout out goes to the staff at Whinstone view. They are brilliant at what they do and always make it a pleasure to work there.

If you want 5-star service and a touch of elegance, then Thicket Priory might be what you are looking for. Built in the 1840s, until recently, it was sealed off from the outside world and lived in by nuns. It has now been lovingly restored and is one of the best North Yorkshire wedding venues.
Thicket Priory boasts 35 en-suite bedrooms, a ballroom, lake and boathouse, private gardens, a chapel and a helipad.
Anna and her team run thicket Priory, and I couldn’t recommend them enough. All the details are taken care of, letting each couple relax and enjoy their wedding day the way they planned.
After photographing several weddings at Thicket Priory, I always can’t wait to go back.

Crab and Lobster
The Crab and Lobster is an award-winning restaurant and manor house located in the North Yorkshire village of Aisneby. The hotel opened in 1991 and has become a firm favourite on the wedding venue scene.
The crab and Lobster is one of the best North Yorkshire wedding venues because it offers so much. From beautifully crafted gardens, a unique manor house and some of the best food in the area. It is one of my favourite North Yorkshire wedding venues, and I can’t wait to get back this year.

This year, I photographed my first wedding at Crayke Manor and instantly fell in love. If you are a fan of Barn DIY weddings with a splash of historic class, you will love this North Yorkshire wedding venue.
Set in the rolling hills of North Yorkshire, not far from Easingwold, Crayke Manor is the perfect wedding venue if you want a bespoke wedding.
The manor can sleep up to sixteen people in 9 bedrooms. It also has a large country kitchen, lounge with open fire and a games room.
Outside, the barn can be styled to suit your own taste, and beautiful gardens surround the manor.
This is one of my all-time favourite wedding venues, and more information can be found at https://craykemanor.com/contact/
Hopefully, this list will help you find your perfect North Yorkshire wedding venue. There are lots more out there, but these are some of my favourites.
