A Wedding I’ll Never Forget – Tracy + Rod – Danby Castle, North Yorkshire
14th July 2018
Looking back through the photos of Tracy and Rod’s wedding I feel very lucky. I have a job where I get to meet people from all over the world who want to share their wedding day with me, and not only share it, but let me into their most precious and intimate moments and photograph it. I feel extremely lucky and privileged.
What makes it even better is when you get a great couple.
Tracy and Rod are better than great. I don’t wont to get all soppy because that’s not very me, but there’s just something about them that brings the best out of people. I think it’s because both of them have a zest for life that you don’t often come across in people, so to find two people who share that passion, that want to spend the rest of their lives together is pretty amazing. It makes it even better when you get the chance to photograph them.

The Wedding Day
The day started at Gisborough Hall, North Yorkshire for the bridal prep. What a way to start your big day than at one of the grandest hotels in the area. I met Tracy and her bridesmaids in their suite; instantly I was struck by how calm everyone was. When heading to meet a bride in the morning you never know how they are going to be – it could be tranquillity or complete carnage! Today was tranquillity. After spending the morning photographing Tracy and the bridesmaids we headed up to Danby Castle for the wedding ceremony.
I love Danby Castle for a few reasons. Firstly I got married there myself not so long ago, we had a few problems with another venue and Danby Castle came to our rescue. Secondly, Caroline and Philip are amazing. They run such a tight ship in the background that the whole day just flows perfectly for every single one of their couples. Lastly and most importantly, it is just such an amazing venue! When you pull up the views get me every time; every direction you look in it’s just stunning. Also, it’s a castle and if that isn’t a selling point then I don’t know what is.
From start to finish, it was just such a perfect day, not because of the crazy knitted animals on the tables, not because of the perfect weather and stunning location, not because of the fab band that they had on the night, it was perfect because of Tracy and Rod. I asked a few of the guest if they were always this hyped up, most said yes, a few said always and someone said it’s because they are crazy for each other.
This is what wedding photography is all about …. and I love it!!
